A Wembley man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering businesswoman Carole Waugh.
Rakesh Bhayani, 40, of Chamberlayne Avenue, is currently being questioned by detectives at a south London police station about the death of the 50-year-old oil executive, whose body was found in a lock-up garage in New Malden last Thursday night.
Miss Waugh, originally from Durham but living in Harrowby Street, Marylebone, had not been seen by her family since mid-April. She had lived and worked in Libya for a number of years, but returned to London in 2008.
A post-mortem examination found she died from a stab wound to the body.
Police say hundreds of thousands of pounds has been plundered from her estate and have arrested ten people over the case.
Bhayani has already appeared in court charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation, relating to transactions associated with Ms Waugh's identity worth approximately £280,000.
He appeared via video link at Westminster Magistrates' Court on July 24 and was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Southwark Crown Court on September 25.
Nicholas Kutner, 47, of no fixed abode, was also arrested for her kidnap and murder on Wednesday last week and was bailed to return to a police station on August 25.
Kutner also faces four fraud charges, including pretending to be Miss Waugh’s brother in a bid to sell her London home, and appeared in court on Monday.
