An Edgware boy will walk ten miles into central London today to raise money for a charity that helped when his father suffered a stroke.
Ben Timan, 11, of Redhill Drive, is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the Stroke Association by walking from his house to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square.
Ben’s father Sas received life-saving surgery from the doctors at the hospital last August when he suffered a severe stroke to the left side of his brain, leaving him paralysed on the right side of his body and with memory loss.
The Michael Sobell Sinai School pupil has raised more than £2,000 already for the charity, and has gathered hundreds of pounds for today’s challenge through wear-your-trainers days at school and collections at the school gate.
He said: “I would really appreciate it if people can sponsor me for my big exciting challenge.”
