Detectives investigating the “gangland execution” of a Wembley man in Bournemouth want to trace a car seen in the area twice at the time of his murder.

Police are appealing for information about the vehicle – believed to be a large saloon car such as a Renault Laguna – seen in Roumelia Lane in the Boscombe area of the town around the time of Reece James Menzies’ murder.

The 21-year-old, also known as Stylie, was shot in the head in the street in what Dorset Police have described as a “premeditated and targeted” attack by several people between 2-2.30am on July 25.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly, of Dorset Police, said: “The timing of these sightings is clearly significant and I need to either implicate or eliminate this vehicle from our investigation.

“Officers are also renewing their appeal for any friends or acquaintances of the victim to come forward.

He added: “We understand that it is worrying for people to take the step to speak to police, but I would like to take the opportunity to reassure members of the public that any information will be treated confidentially.”

As a result of a previous appeal, a second vehicle seen in the area of Roumelia Lane has been eliminated from the enquiry.

Reece’s mother, Michelle James, told the Harrow Times last week how her son became a father in May and was a “mummy’s boy”, who could not be part of the Church Road Soldiers gang that operates in Harlesden.

A 22-year-old man who was arrested over the incident has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
