Parking fine appeals can now only be made online after the council shut its telephone service to cut costs.

Harrow Council shut its telephone-based One Stop Shop service earlier this month in a move that councillors believe will save £90,000 a year and reduce administration costs, as it tries to fill a £19million hole in this year’s budget.

Those without access to the internet are asked to use computers for free at the borough’s libraries or at the Civic Centre in Station Road.

Fines can still be paid online, by an automated telephone service or at a payment kiosk at the Civic Centre.
