A public inquiry into the death of a 24-year-old has begun seven years after he was shot dead by a police marksman in 2005.
Azelle Rodney, from Hounslow, was in the back of a car in Hale Lane, Edgware, when an officer opened fire.
He was shot six times after the car was followed by police in a planned operation.
The inquiry is the first into a fatal police shooting and is being presided over by Sir Christopher Holland.
Oral hearings will begin at a court in the Principal Registry of the Family Division in central London.
Sir Christopher, a retired High Court judge, is expected to determine how, when, where and in what circumstances Mr Rodney died.
The inquiry is expected to last up to ten weeks.
