Harrow’s own Paralympic gold medallist Naomi Riches will be honoured with her own stamp after her rowing triumph yesterday.
Royal Mail are to feature Naomi, with her teammates Pamela Relph, James Roe, David Smith and cox Lily van den Broecke on a special stamp as part of their campaign to recognise all of Paralympic GB’s winners.
The stamp will be available in more than 500 branches from tomorrow morning, and is the 10th to be produced to mark the team’s successes.
Naomi, who is visually impaired, and her team won the mixed coxed four LTAMix4+ in a time of 3 minutes and 19.38 seconds yesterday morning to beat their German rivals, who had set a world record time in the heats.
After her win yesterday, she said: “It's incredible, absolutely incredible.
“It's a life choice you make – you choose to be an athlete at this level and it isn't just a day job.
“I'm so happy to know that all the blood, sweat and tears, all the joy and pain, has been worth it for the last few minutes on the water.”
