A thug who fired a stun gun into a Wembley woman’s head four times in a bungled attempt to steal her handbag has been jailed for nine years.
Daniel Lungu, 26, of Barford Close, Mill Hill, grabbed the 29-year-old victim as she left a block of flats in Chamberlayne Avenue at approximately 8.30am on March 15 and fired the weapon at her.
He fired the stun gun into her head and neck four times until she dropped to the floor and screamed – still clutching her handbag – and a neighbour ran out of his flat to confront Lungu with two golf clubs.
Lungu fled, and was pursued by a witness as he ran away down an alleyway between Edison Drive and Hirst Crescent, before police arrested him in East Lane.
At Harrow Crown Court yesterday, he was found guilty of attempted robbery, grievous bodily harm and possessing a prohibited weapon, and was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Detective Constable Paul Sumner, of Brent Police, labelled the attack a “despicable crime” and said he was pleased at the length of Lungu’s sentence.
