Wealdstone boss Bobby Wilkinson has been a busy man over the last week, securing the signatures of 12 players as he bolsters his squad ahead of the upcoming National League South season.
The Stones announced nine signings in one day last Friday, with Yado Mambo, Matt Lench, Tom Gardiner, Montel Agyemang, Stefan Brown, Wadah Ahmidi, James Clark, Freddie Grant and Sam Hatton all moving to the Ruislip based club.
Centre half Mambo has been a free agent since 2017 after retiring from professional football following a short spell with Ebbsfleet United due to a knee injury, but the 26-year-old has been given the all clear to play part-time at Grosvenor Vale.
Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Lench arrives from Slough Town, where he played a significant role in their promotion to the National League South this season having scored 15 goals.
Next through the door was centre-back Gardiner, who arrives from St Albans City, and he was swiftly followed by former Leyton Orient winger Agyemang who joins from East Thurrock United.
Stones boss Wilkinson then raided former club Hungerford Town for striker Brown and midfielder Clark, before then securing the signature of former Maidenhead United midfielder Ahmidi.
Young left-back Grant and versatile midfielder Hatton were the last two signings of the day, with the duo joining from Oxford United and Staines Town respectively. But the Stones weren’t finished there, as three more signings arrived yesterday in the shape of Bradley Hudson-Odoi, Rhys Tyler and Marvel Ekpiteta.
Hudson-Odoi will be familiar to Wealdstone fans having enjoyed a successful spell with the club in 2015/16, with his performances winning him the Junior Player-of-the-Season award at the end of the campaign.
He returns to the Stones from Hampton and Richmond Borough, having also enjoyed brief spells with Sutton United, Eastleigh and Maidstone United since his last spell at Grosvenor Vale.
Hudson Odoi’s arrival was swiftly followed by defenders Tyler and Ekpiteta, who join from Hungerford Town and Bishop’s Stortford.
With 12 signings arriving, it was perhaps inevitable that there would be some departures, with the Stones confirming Benji Crilley, Alex Laffleur, Jermaine Osei, Marcus Johnson-Schuster, Ryan Sellers, Ricky Wellard, Dan Fitchett, Stephane Ngamvoulou, Ashleigh Artwell, Matty Whichelow, Matt Day and Harry Goodger will all depart this summer. They will be joined by former Watford defender Eddie Oshodi, who has decided to retire.
To cap off a busy week for the club, the Stones also announced that they have agreed a new five-year-lease of their Grosvenor Vale home.
Wealdstone have been playing at Grosvenor Vale, based in Ruislip, since 2008 and the new agreement means the Stones will continue to have exclusive use of the stadium site for the next five years.
Wealdstone chairman Peter Marsden said: ““I am very pleased we have been able to successfully conclude complex negotiations with KSIMC and we are grateful to them. We have established a firm base for our future at Grosvenor Vale and this agreement will enable us to further develop our infrastructure and attract new investment to the club to support our footballing and community ambitions.”
