Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett is hoping to bring in a couple of players to boost their play-off push.
The Stones have put together an 11-game unbeaten run in the Ryman Premier to climb within six points of the top five. But Bartlett believes they still need to add to their options ahead of the transfer deadline at the end of the month.
Bartlett said: “Looking at the squad, I will probably need one or two players by the transfer deadline. We have enough options up front but we are a bit light defensively and in the middle of the park.
“I have to start thinking and if we do keep going then I need to make sure I do my job properly. I need to ensure that I tried to get someone in but that depends on availability and the budget.”
Wealdstone picked up a valuable 1-0 win at Aveley on Saturday in a scrappy encounter.
The winner came after 28 minutes when Alex Dyer finished smartly.
Bartlett was delighted with the result as his team battled the conditions to come away with the three points.
Bartlett added: “It was a pretty dire affair but we got the win so it’s a case of job done.
“We anticipated a difficult game because there is very little atmosphere and a bumpy pitch. They are battling for their lives and they don’t play much football. I think there was about 30 seconds in the first half and that was the goal.
“The important thing is when things do not go our way that we react properly. We know that we are going to lose somewhere along the line but it’s about how we respond that counts.”
The Stones return to Grosvenor Vale this weekend to take on strugglers Folkestone Invicta.
Wealdstone are boosted by the return to fitness of Gavin Massey and Joe Benjamin. Watford striker Massey has recovered from a hamstring problem and Benjamin is also on the mend after a quad injury.
Bartlett said: “We drew with them recently and that was a hard fought game.
“They will be fighting for their lives but hopefully we can continue to produce the form we have had lately.”
